Thread incoming... @commonfuturenow passed this little collection of CDA related archive material on to me a wee while back – rescued from a bin at GCC some time ago. Finally remembered to photograph it yesterday... #Anderston #Hutchensontown #Gorbals #Laurieston
First up, a plan of Laurieston / Gorbals pre-CDA. Highlights for me are obvs Caledonia Road Church and Gorbals Cross, as well as the Sandyfaulds / Moffat St mega-block!
This plan shows the Anderston CDA area prior to its re-development, interestingly its also overmarked with the locations of the various objectors to the proposals. It also shows what was lost to the motorway, inc the Glasgow Gaiety Theatre, Anderston UP Church & North St Cemetery
This pair includes an aerial photo of the original Hutchesontown / Gorbals, and then a model of the redevelopment collaged in highlighting the proposed shift away from the existing tenemental urban grain...
Brochures were produced to promote each of the CDA's, this one set out to showcase the Hutchesontown proposals...
Whilst this one makes the case for the Anderston Cross redevelopment plans by AG Jury, the accompanying text aims to make the case that the existing housing is sub-standard and requires replacement, as well as the supposed need for the inner ring road.
