Cis people can understand “trans” about as good as a virgin can understand sex. You should therefore value a cis person’s opinion about “trans” as much as you’d value a virgin’s opinion about sex.
This is why cis people gatekeeping access your trans healthcare is unethical.
Bad doctors, psychologists, and sexologists who want to gaslight us to ourselves and society when we’re very capable of speaking up about our experiences, lives, and needs frustrate me to no end.

My own understanding of cis women’s experiences is limited the same. Just because I’m a trans woman doesn’t mean I understand the lived experiences of cis women. But even cis women have vastly different experiences of womanhood.
“Woman” doesn’t mean “same.”
All deserve respect.

I’m saying cissplaining is bad. It’s how transphobia propagates, and it’s the basis behind gatekeeping.
I don’t need cis people to understand what it’s like to be trans. I need them to accept that I’m human and who I say I am.
Trans people are the experts in trans.

Clarifying:
Cis people can learn about trans. I spend most of my time here trying to teach cis people about trans!!!
Sex ed is supposed to teach kids about sex when they’re virgins.
We should teach both. My point is knowledge isn’t experience, so don’t talk over trans ppl.
