Bringing back the classic side-by-side format. On the left you have coverage of the death of Herman Cain, a Black business leader who attended a rally. On the right, you have a mass murdering Iranian terrorist, General Soleimani.
Curious how each was covered.
What might be the most egregious example is @Reuters.
For Cain, they feel compelled to include that he didn’t wear a mask at a rally (no evidence that’s where he got coronavorus).
But for Soleimani, they’re pushing ***actual Iranian propaganda***

@nytimes decided to follow suit.
They picked up a @Reuters story about Cain not wearing a mask. But Soleimani was a powerful master of intrigue.

Your tax dollars are hard at work over at @NPR.
For @thedailybeast, Herman Cain’s death is just ironic and “undeniably typical.”
But killing Soleimani was an ESCALATION.
Remember when this decision was going to cause WW3? Ah, the days.

I tried to come up with something clever and pithy about this from @Slate but really it’s just disgusting.
@newrepublic really ties themselves in knots here trying to explain that conservative media refuses to confront the facts about the passing of Cain, a cancer survivor, while mainstream outlets aren’t being tough enough on Trump’s decision to kill a terrorist.
I’ll pause here to remind you that the response to Cain’s death was downright ghoulish.
Just a sampling but here’s @morningmika, @jonlovett, @chipfranklin and @youngsinick.

Obligatory @kurteichenwald mention.
@latimes manages to find culpability in Cain’s death, but when it comes to the funeral of a terrorist, we’ve got live coverage of his funeral procession.
And individual journalists got in on the act.
For Cain, there’s blood on the heads of Trump, to hear @AprilDRyan tell it. Odd how she doesn’t say the same about the Middle East’s most prolific terrorist, about whose death she wants more answers.
Just shameful.

@JohnJHarwood took a similar approach, managing to include an attempt at culpability for Cain, but not for Soleimani.
Shockingly, the galaxy brains of twitter dot com did the same thing.
From behind a block, here’s a thoroughly shameful entry from @deanobeidallah, king of the four-box entry.

This one from @Toure is also really bad.
Cain’s death is more or less his fault. But Trump is a terrorist for...killing a terrorist? Alright.

Also, it’s really hard for me to take someone’s conviction seriously that black lives matter means abolishing the police when you can mental ninja your way into a “he got what was coming to him” for a Black man who attended a rally.
@realDonaldTrump has truly broken the brains of many on the left, but I don’t know that anyone has been as badly impacted as @shaunking.
Oh and here’s @TheDemCoalition.
I don’t really know how to wrap this one up other than to say the best way to avoid ending up on my hypocrisy threads is not to feign outrage when an enemy combatant is killed and then tell someone whose politics you don’t like that they had it coming when they die of a disease.
