I really like Viz, but obviously they can make some pretty underwhelming decisions.

But the ugly new covers for Urusei Yatsura pale in comparison to the fact that they're still using DISGRACED WRITER Gerard Jones "Americanized" text in Ranma and Dragon Ball.

You've rereleased Dragon Ball several times at this point, and Ranma got the omnibus editions.
Not once did you think to re-translate they books the way you did Urusei Yatsura.

And what better reason do you need than to erase the legacy of a pedophile?

Mari Morimoto and Lillian Olsen were the translators on Dragon Ball and Ranma.

But in the 90's it was common practice to employ a localizer, someone to rewrite dialogue to "punch it up" for American audiences.

Enter Gerard Jones, a comic writer at DC and Marvel.

Jones is the reason Piccolo speaks like Yoda reciting Shakespeare.

He's also serving six years in prison for possession of child pornography.

This is not an attack on Viz, by the way. I think they did a wonderful job 90% of the time.

They've had some issues with sketchy bluray releases, and print quality in their manga, but in a whole they're great.

This is just an opportunity to do a better version of classic manga.
