I’ve been trying to formulate a tweet about the Bobby Sylvester stuff and have struggled mightily. Here’s what I’ve got:

This is not a fantasy sports issue. It’s an issue about male entitlement and culture.
Too many men feel entitled to women. Too many men have been taught that it is ok to denigrate, objectify, and scare women to get what they want and shame them if they don’t.
It is not enough to say “don’t slide into DMs to pick up/harrass women.” We need to stop teaching our sons that this behavior is ok and start raising men that treat women with the respect they deserve so that way our daughters are safe.
I have two daughters. I am not only scared for them that they have to live in a world that encourages this type of toxic masculinity, but I am disappointed that I should have to teach them how to protect themselves.
They should be growing up in a world where this type of behavior doesn’t exist. It’s not enough to “drag” the perpetrators. It’s time to do more. It starts with us, men. Keep other men accountable AND end the cycle.
