A short thread on Climate Justice, prompted by this great New York Times article on the global inequality of suffering from heat. 1/n
When I hear the words "Climate Justice", my mind goes to the billions of people in least developed nations. The people most impacted by climate change - who've done the least to cause it - are the billions of global poor in the global south. 2/n
The global poor in the global south get hit with some of the most extreme temperature and precipitation changes. They also have the least economic and physical resources with which to withstand change, adapt to it, or bounce back from disaster. 3/n
This is not to disparage anyone's efforts towards climate justice within US borders. But climate change is a global issue. And the lion's share of the suffering if for those living in or near truly extreme poverty in parts of Africa, India, and Asia. 4/n
