I retweeted Brady's excellent thread yesterday, but there's been a little pushback over this feature. It might be a bad-faith thing, but it's surprising to me, because this approach is pretty common to dated media with harmful stereotypes-- especially animation and comics. https://twitter.com/BradyHartel/status/1291493180530188289
The production team taking this approach is notable because HARIMAO'S TREASURE is only 25 years old-- I think it's a good and responsible choice. But proper framing of this sort of stuff is, uh, kind of an industry standard...? It dates back a good 20 years, at least.
