#ShannonBridge is set to become the next political battle ground in Limerick’s transport struggle.

So I took to the new segregated temp cycle lane to meet those using it.

First I met Tanusha- a student who uses it every day to get to college & into the city centre.
Next we met Davis, originally from Latvia and working in car sales in the city centre. He uses the cycle lane daily to get to & from work.
We loved meeting Emilia and her family. She’s learnt to cycle during lockdown so her parents take her for a cycle up & down this lane each day to build her confidence. She lives in an apartment in the city centre, with both her parents working on the northside of the city.
Lastly we chatted to John cycling home from work to Raheen & Elison originally from Brazil, who uses the lane to get to work in the city centre.
Lots of young ppl & families use this lane as it’s safe & protected. They use it for work, school & leisure. It connects them to the city centre. Many didn’t know it’s due to be removed on the 28th of Aug with other temp Covid measures. If this lane is removed, danger returns.
If Limerick loses this one cycle lane that crosses the river, the needs of motorists are put ahead of the safety of all these ppl. We will go back to a hostile bridge network, that’s unsafe for all cyclists. @EamonRyan @alankellylabour @kodonnellLK @willieodeaLIVE @QuinlivanTD
