Responding to the contentions raised by Hassan Allatyari regarding the context of Ghadīr. https://twitter.com/ttwelvers/status/1291589564679647232
1) Allatyari’s first claim is that none of the early sources show that the khutbah at Ghadīr was delivered due to a dispute/a dispute took place.

In this case, he should refer to the following report found in the Seerah by Ibn Ishaq (d.150AH).
Furthermore we learn from the following report in Sunan al-Nasa’i, from the words of Burayda (ra) himself, that a dispute had occurred, immediately prior to the famous words, ‘من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه’.
This report has been graded Sahīh (Authentic) by al-Albanī, on the condition of al-Bukhārī & Muslim.
2) Allatyari’s second point challenges Ahl as-Sunnah to bring forth a report which shows the Sahābah hurling complaints towards ‘Ali (ra), prior to the khutbah at Ghadīr.

Ironically, this is narrated in the Kitāb al-Irshād of Shaykh al-Mufīd (a Shī’i scholar).
However, we read in al-Bidāyah wa’l Nihāyah, by Imām Ibn Kathīr -

“During the farewell pilgrimage, ‘Ali returned from Yemen to join the hajj, with animals for sacrifice. He had appointed one of his companions to be in charge of the army, and he rushed to meet the ...

... Messenger of Allāh in Makkah. The appointee distributed some of the booty to the soldiers of the army ... the deputy took the clothes away from them, and the soldiers started raising complaints against ‘Ali’s treatment ...

When the people complained about ‘Ali, the Messenger of Allāh stood up to ADDRESS THEM.”

Grading: Isnād is Good.
Similarly, this is found in Seerah by Ibn Ishaq.
Imām Ibn Kathīr then states,

“There was a lot of complaints raised against ‘Ali from the ARMY (many) ... then when passing by Ghadīr Khumm, on the way back from the farewell pilgrimage, the Messenger of Allāh addressed & DEFENDED ‘Ali ...

... confirming his high status & pointing out his VIRTUES.”
Note:

The conquests in Yemen lasted up to 11 months (in the final year of the Prophet’s life) up to the farewell pilgrimage.
Abū Mūsā al-Ash’arī narrates, “The Messenger of Allāh had sent me to Yemen and I came back in the year in which he (ﷺ) performed the farewell pilgrimage.”

Sahīh Muslim.
3) Allatyari’s third & fourth points are indirectly answered, since each of the reports above confirms Ali’s (ra) dispute was not merely between one or two companions, rather it was a cohort of them that were displeased with him.
This was enough for it to come to the attention of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).
4) Moreover, it is clear from the reports above, in particular the authentic hadīth in Sunan al-Nasā’ī, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivered his Ghadīr sermon, in response to the criticism levelled against Ali (ra).
