Been poorly, so not ridden a bike for over a month. Today went for a short test ride. Didn’t drop my stoker off the back of the tandem. Only two miles. Needed ‘a lie down’ afterwards, but here are some of the sights on my 1st ride to recovery: #TwoTupsOnATandem 1/4
1st stop: Old Allertonshire School. The school starred in a 1947 documentary 'The Three A's' celebrating the post war organisation of secondary education. Then a county modern school, later a comprehensive. It is now boarded up. #TwoTupsOnATandem 2/4
Porch House, Northallerton. Charles I stayed here as a guest in 1640 and then as a prisoner in 1647. It is now a B&B. Legend has it there is a tunnel to the church opposite. #TwoTupsOnATandem 3/4
Vine House/old Rutson Hospital. A window was broken here during local 'riots' in response to the Queen Caroline affair in 1820. The big box window was my mother's bedroom when she lived here as a student nurse. It is now a pub #TwoTupsOnATandem 4/4
