tracking your period yourself using discharge method (thread)
this is for whoever needs this thread. some people don’t like to or can’t track their cycle using the calendar method (or apps). this thread is from what i know and from what i do. i have a regular period. i’m not on birth control. i am in tune with my body so i just.. feel it.
but this method aligns well for me as well.

the discharge throughout your cycle changes and it aligns with what your body is preparing for or what stage of the cycle you are in. you check the color and consistency of your discharge to see what part of the cycle you’re in.
discharge is cervical mucus. if you think discharge doesn’t come out, that means a trip to the doctor bc 100% dry can mean lack of fertility. you can also insert your fingers if you feel a lot isn’t coming out.

so here it is:
menstruation happens for however many days. if you don’t have a regular cycle, you can ignore the days. go off of your days. menstruation is the bleeding days. track each day you’re bleeding. towards the end, you’ll probably be more brown.
eventually the discharge somewhat “stops” and you just become dry. this doesn’t last very long but in the time after your period, you’re typically not as fertile. however, sperm can live within a female for up to 5 days so if you’re very fertile.. be aware of that.
the dry phase is just that: dry. track how many days are dry, where you have little to no discharge. then you’ll typically see sticky then creamy. i’ve noticed the closer i’m getting to ovulation, the more the color tends to get closer to white. you can just look+
at the discharge (i’ll just see sticky discharge or globs and know what phase it is) or you can touch it or insert your fingers to take some mucus out. you want to rub it and pull it between your thumb and index finger to determine the consistency. honestly, i just look at it
track the sticky phase. this is important if you don’t have a regular period cycle. if you want to really know the amount of days and actual numbers then track it. i just look at it to determine if it’s safe for my type of sex or not. after sticky comes creamy.
creamy is just that. it’s creamy and white on the underwear. this is my cue that ovulation is arriving soon. during this stage, i am more careful. sometimes this is very creamy or cloudy and it can be very thick. track how many days that takes. you are semi fertile.+
if sperm is within you during this time, you can very much so get pregnant. there’s about 2 weeks out of the month that pregnancy is high. the way i look at it is.. every single day, the fertility chances in my body increases and this coincides with the greater consistency
and color of the discharge. after creamy comes the ovulation style mucus. it feels like an egg white, a bit slippery, stretchy, and there’s usually a lot of it. sometimes when it flows out.. it can feel like a period. i always know it’s ovulation day because

imma keep it real, the most fertile days happen for a long ass time and remember, sperm lasts 5 days so you have sex 5 days before ovulation day and boom, you’re pregnant. after the ovulation happens, you typically go back to being more dry. this is the fun time right before
your period arrives again. you’re not very fertile or not fertile at all. typically you feel most horny when you’re approaching ovulation and then when you’re out of ovulation. sex drive really does increase around ovulation so that can also be another sign. your body
is very aligned. you can use it to figure out when to have sex, when to use more protection, when you can wear those white jeans!! you just have to listen to it and know the signs it tells you!! i hope this helped!! 💘🦋
