When we're born into the world we express ourselves with 3000 different movement patterns. By the time we start school, we've been socialized to only use 300. Maybe this is why people always say that we only use 10% of our total intelligence.
If you experience a large gap between your ability to dissect hand histories with friends and your ability to execute flawlessly in real time, it's highly likely that you're using your body differently in those two situations. In one you're connected, and in the other you're not.
A friend of mine was a C student her whole life until a teacher encouraged her to move around the back of the room during class. From there she made straight A's, got a PhD and published several books. Same person, different use of body, completely different life trajectory.
If you don't learn well in traditional ways or feel like you mess up hands that you always nail when talking with friends, it's likely that you just haven't found ways to connect to your body while you're playing or studying yet. Learn this skill and it could change everything.
