The @premierleague made a rod for its own back with the MENA rights package; it’s predicted on a Sky or ESPN type broadcaster, not a controversial State-owned one, especially in a region with so many conflicts of interest. Rights management was always going to be problematic.

Not excusing any piracy but seriously, what did they think might happen given Qatar’s status in the region? That they would be allowed free reign to potentially broadcast propaganda directly into countries with diametrically opposed ideology? As ever, money trumps logic at the PL
