In 2012, Windsor police released a 'Project Accountability' report under then acting chief Al Frederick after Gary Smith's sudden retirement as chief in Dec 2011.

Project Accountability finished with 27 initiatives that "have been or will be implemented."

Frederick said in a press release:

"At this time, the priority of the Windsor
Police Service is to restore the community’s confidence in the Windsor Police Service."
In 2016, current Chief Pam Mizuno was promoted from an Inspector to a Superintendant.

In 2018, Mizuno was promoted to Deputy Chief.

In 2019, she became the acting and then permanent Chief of the Windsor Police Service.
