Things that testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this summer has taught me: a thread
.) Even when you think you’re being safe, there’s probably better ways you can be safe.
.) You touch your face more than you think you do. You need to make it into a habit to stop that to lower your chances of contracting it.
.) Being able to quarantine and isolate alone can be a privilege that not everybody has, especially when you don’t have your own room.
.) COVID isn’t always a fever. It can look like headaches, body pains, dizziness, fatigue, loss of smell, dry cough, and sore throat. Pay attention to ANY symptoms that seem out of the blue. Now is the prime time to get to know your body.
.) Nothing is wrong with getting tested. There should be no shame or stigma. Don’t wait until you’re showing very obvious symptoms to get tested. Get tested if you’re feeling a little off, you could save so many lives by knowing early.
.) One thing that people aren’t talking about is the mental health toll that COVID takes on you. I thought I was going to die and cried many nights once I found out I was positive. I was living with my family at the time and the intense guilt of possibly spreading it to my (1/2)
.) (2/2) family where there are immunocompromised individuals at my house. I felt like a huge burden and constantly thought of how better they would be if I wasn’t there, existing.
It gets really dark, please don’t go through this alone and REACH OUT to loved ones!
.) Recovery looks different for everyone. For me, it looked like getting a good amount of sleep, taking my vitamins and prescribed medications, remembering to eat, staying away from family members, and tracking my symptoms. Communication with your physician is very important.
.) All I’m gonna say is, you have the rest of your life to socialize. It’s not worth it. If that person is worth staying in your life, they’ll understand and respect that you don’t want to hang out for safety and health reasons.
.) I feel bad for those who believe this virus is a hoax. I hope and pray that it doesn’t take them having a close loved one with a positive case to finally take it seriously.
.) Lastly, a mask truly makes all the difference. My goal is for no one to see the bottom half of my face in person until 2021. Make that your goal too 😘.
