An eye-pleasing correlation matrix from @fbref.

Which metrics correlate with Points/Game the most? aka can we find common characteristics among the dominant teams of 2019/20?

The answer is YES, definitely 💪
Some interesting takes:

- Pressing success rate and pressing in the attacking 3rd correlate with points per game in a linear way.

- High and long passes reduce the points per game statistics.

- Number of players used in a season ( #Pl) doesn't have a strong influence on pts/g
Based on the chart, the ideal dominant football team plays:

⚽️possession-based football
⚽️short/middle distance passing game on the ground
⚽️with successful pressing in the attacking third
⚽️the ball into the penalty area and keeps it there

The numbers also confirm this.
