(1/8)By next week, the terror that happened in Beirut won’t be a world discussion anymore and ppl will move on from posting abt it, thinking abt it and donating to it. The imagery of that explosion will become barely part of a memory to most. This “social media trend” will pass.
(2/8)but for people on the ground there, this is just the beginning. The city of Beirut has been destroyed. Homes have collapsed. Hospitals are overwhelmed. The people are starving. The people are dying. And while the world moves on, Beirut is getting buried deeper.
(3/8)let it be known and spread widely and globally that the Lebanese government (who allowed Ammonium Nitrate to just chill at our port right by our busiest and most densely populated streets), is BLOCKING international aid from numerous countries and orgs to come help us.
(4/8) Not only are they responsible for what happened, not only are they neglecting the people STILL, but they are stopping others from helping us. WHY?!
(5/8) the people have been on the streets since Wednesday morning cleaning up and fixing up each others’ homes before taking care of their own. People literally got BOMBED on Tuesday, barely got a chance to process it, and were already on the ground Wednesday to help.
(6/8)they are alone. Fighting it alone. Not even allowed to get help. This is pure evil. Let it be known. To all the other countries and ppl who will soon forget about Beirut, know that Beirut is bleeding and will be bleeding for days and weeks and months to come
(7/8)and that we will still need you to fight for us. We are being murdered. We have been getting murdered by our leaders even before Tuesday’s massacre. Let it be known.
(8/8) and finally please considering donating if you haven’t yet. Every bit counts. No amount is too little. And if you can’t afford it, share it, talk about it, help anyway you can. http://Helplebanon.carrd.co
