The slang the college kids use all the time never stops being amusing to me. It helped to know that if someone told me they were a little skeeted and going to a lit banger with fire hotties, they were high on cocaine and going to a party with lots of beautiful women.
Some of the slang doesn't make sense to me, but if you're going to drive people around, you have to know what it means anyway. Young people have all kinds of expressions whose meanings aren't obvious right away.
Any kind of e-cigarette is a Juul, but if someone says they forgot their vape, that's a marijuana pen. Juul cartridges are just called pods, and kids preferred mango and mint before they banned it.

Side note: tons of kids smoke. It's really sad.
A party is a banger, but not a rager. They'll look at you funny if you call it that.

Promiscuous women they don't like are THOTs (that ho over there).

Any reference to smoke or smoking means marijuana, since no one smokes cigarettes, they Juul.
Something that you like or think is good is simply "fire." This burrito? Fire. My girlfriend? Fire. Last night? 🔥

Passing a test? Haha, just kidding. These kids never talked about coursework with me.
One bit that was endlessly amusing was the relationship they had to the word "fuck." Usually not an insult, they use it to describe when they like something.

"Reggaeton music? I fuck with that."
They also use it to comfort each other when describing their emotions.

"I just can't believe he'd cheat on me. I feel so mad at him."

"I know, girl. I fuck with that."
This can lead to some very on their face hilarious moments, like the night I picked up 4 drunken frat boys from happy hour to take them back to Heritage Grove, a complex of fraternity houses.
The young man in the passenger seat was going through a breakup, and his friends were trying to make him feel better. As he spoke very openly of his sadness and emotion, his fraternity brother spoke what I assume were words of comfort.
"THOTs come and go, but we're your brothers," he said. "We're always going to be there." He put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "I fuck with you. We all fuck with you."

The crying passenger, overwhelmed, held his friend's hand.

"I fuck with you too."

Me: 🤦‍♂️
It speaks to a lack of vocabulary for people to express their emotions. They know that being able to talk about their feelings is important, but they struggle to find the right words. There are very few role models for them. In the absence, they adapt what words they have.
