I am hearing rumblings about taking away prep time for HS Ts.
In the quad model, a T can teach 2 classes in Q1 (no prep) & then 1 subject in Q2 (one class, one prep). Normally, this amts to a balanced timetable in sem but not under quad...

Some school board members have said Ts should either be REASSIGNED during their prep days OR come to school on prep days to do their synchronous lessons.
WHY???
Because they don’t want Ts to have days where they have NOTHING TO DO.
And maybe...accountability? trust?

Now...
I wonder if these same ppl are concerned during quads when I have NO prep? When I work evenings & weekends on planning, marking & assessing?
This is all normal when I *do* have prep time, and I’m HAPPY TO DO IT. It’s all part of the job. All 60-70 hrs/wk of it.

What I object to is my workload being 
even more, and during a pandemic to boot.
And I strongly object to being made to come into a workplace when I can easily do that work from home.
I’m even hearing rumours of overriding parts of our CA so they can dip into preps. WHAT?

This is also a public health issue!
Every T I know is basically planning on going back to Stage 1 for 10 mos to limit contacts.
In Sept, I will be traveling 1.5-2hrs by TTC to get to school. I’m fine with that but NOT when it’s unnecessary.

And of course, this is a mental health/well-being issue.
Sending out mass wellness emails and treating us like an afterthought doesn’t scream ‘concern’.
Consulting Ts and giving them an AUTHENTIC VOICE shows concern.
You’ll get more out of us when you CULTIVATE GOODWILL.

[One trustee stated we had “nothing to do” during this time (justification for reassignment or coming to school). Is this true?]
