A reminder that once you hit a certain follower number? You’ve got a platform & a voice on here. It can be a gentle tap or a bludgeon. It’s power others have granted you & should be wielded responsibly.
What shouldn’t be done is using it to harangue or belittle folks cause you don’t agree or decide you like them. It’s pretty despicable to use your umpteen thousand followers against a person with a less visible account.
Cause whether you ask folks to not say a word against whoever your problem is with or you don’t? Folks who are on your side will jumó to your defense. Without stopping to wonder if you’re wrong.
The people y’all hold up on here? Are people, fallible and shockingly? Can be wrong. It’s also irresponsible AF to hammer on someone less known when you know this is a possible result.
It’s why I get so heated about stan culture & people jumping in to defend their “faves”. I’ve seen folks lock up their account or just delete after a bigger name quote tweeted them to pick on a thing they’ve said.
Yes, I’ve done this too, but I’ve learned. Mostly not to do this. That follower # + check gives me a voice & I should use it responsibly. Do I always manage? Not 100% but I’m more aware of consequences of an angry RT or QT a take I disagree with.
So TL;DR, be thoughtful when you’ve got a few thousand, tens of thousands or even close to 1M or 2M followeres on here. Your words & how you respond to things has so much weight & power.
Note: I’m not talking about laying folks out to dry who attacked & harassed you. Fuck them, cause they ain’t want the smoke? Shouldn’t have lit the fire. Do as you will to those cockwombles.
This isn’t about any one thing either. It’s been on my mind & I wanted to get thoughts out before I hop into email & Day 3 of big project. ✌🏾☕️
