My uncle called them “JPJ”, when he said “JPJ udah mansak” which means the crocs already passed by our longhouse. The river behind our longhouse is part of Batang Skrang River

The crocs is protected under the Sarawak Wildlife Ordinance just like other wildlife in this country.
Since the number is a lot, the Sarawak Gov can give a permit to kill one if they threatened the lives of the community

This was taken when we’re on our way to my grandad’s long house in Derau, Saratok (Rumah Panjai Derau).
Since the road is really bad after rains & only those Hilux can go through, so we walk and we always see this sign along the way. No harm ever happened but just don’t go in

Just for you information, not all longhouse are located near the river or big river like Rajang, Saribas, Baram. Some located near highway or main roads for better accessibility. And these days, running water are supply through pipes to all longhouses
