Quick & dirty analysis of this article.
Generally, very vague questions focusing almost exclusively on economic impact, with little knowledge of the healthcare side (which is the purpose of the temporary ban).

Also a strong but predictable weighting towards ominous sounding “agendas”. The couched arguments are clearly against a true prohibition that is permanent (or at least long-running).
It is 90% strawman.
The experts are just 2 people:
...
Christopher Snowdon: freelance journalist + author, studied History. Vocal opponent of any sort of government interventions, most notably re alcohol.
He recycles claims that drops in ER load SA more due to movement restrictions than alcohol ban itself. Not substantiated at all
Institute of Economic Affairs: Fun. Right wing neo-lib think tank, free markets, hardline pro-Brexit. Multiple big controversies re political independence, many cases of publishing reports that are pro parties, who are funding the reports. IMO, paid lobby group, not a think tank
Dr Westley Clark: clearly has expertise, but unclear how informed on SA specifics. He seems to talk mostly about “full/perma” prohibition, rather than the reality we have. Even so, he admits negative effects of prohibition manifest “gradually” - a salient fact, ignored by most.
Ultimately, this entire article is in my view an opinion piece built from out-of-context opinions shared during a webinar, hosted by the industry, and populated (it seems) by likely-uninformed lobbyists. There is no value, no insight in this.
It's just shouting repeated phrases.
