There’ll be a lot of chaff issued to try to obscure what’s happening. But fundamentally, our ‘leaders’ have decided that your children should be given grades based on the results of other children in previous years. Not on their efforts or their teachers’ assessments. It’s sick. https://twitter.com/tes/status/1291586114659258371
The sole purpose this is to ensure a large enough number of children are told they are failures & to close off further opportunities for them.

We could have given all children the grades their teachers predicted. But not enough failures for those who need to see children failed.
The children who are most impacted by this travesty are those who struggle academically. Most of the reduced grades will be less advantaged children at the 3/4/5 borderline. Yet nearly all “concern” will be directed at the minority of cases at the top end of the grade range.
As with our entire education system, all the time, those who most need our help, our understanding and our kindness will be crushed by people who demand their failure as necessary in order to give value to the ‘success’ of the children that the systems ‘leaders’ care about.
We could have let the predicted grades stand. We should never have ‘ranked’ children. We could have recognised the impact of the pandemic & actually tried to secure a better outcome.

But our ‘leaders’ put their demand to fail a large enough number of children ahead of all else.
