The illustrious Karthika Thirunal Dharma Raja of Travancore defeated Tippu sultan in the battle of nedumkotta. Tippu fled for his life and his sword and sword were captured and offered to Sripadmanabha by the Maharaja.
The maharaja also made a huge gigantic pot

made of solid gold studded with precious gems, In which once in a year a kheer(payasam) made of coconut milk, rice and jaggery and dried ginger is offered to the lord. To this day the offering true to its magnificent stature can be witnessed by devotee. a sight to behold.
