For those (me) who need a serious reaction here it is: our system is designed in such a way as to guarantee that desperate people will take dangerous, chaotic and illegal means to attempt to travel. They will not disappear. The options are this, or we provide safe & legal routes.

Similarly when in the UK, the system is designed to systematically exclude people who entered by legal means from maintain their immigration status.
They will not disappear. The options are this, or we reduce time till settlement and reduce fees for obtaining it.

There is no deal with France or detention camp that will make people disappear.
I'm tired of being told by MPs, Farige, MigrationWash and the like that, actually, just a little bit MORE of the approach we've taken for the last 3 decades, will finally make it all go away. #r4today

People want to believe we can hoard our incredible wealth, opportunity & stability for some imagined finite number of people with a birth right to possess it and MPs, Farige, etc, make careers on promising, year after year, to clamp down, with EXACTLY the same outcome every time.

We need a media that is fit to question why we are always presented with more of the same. Just be more cruel, more tough, more barbed wire, more human rights violations, more of an approach which by ANY MEASURE has proven itself an abject failure.

We need to hear credible debates that put forward a completely different approach, that present a genuine alternative to this endless repetition of fear, hatred, misery and dangerous journeys.
One that admits we can only manage & benefit from this. We cannot stop it. #r4today
