It’s a VIRUS, its sole purpose in life is to survive and infect. Andrews & Co are doing everything they can, but Australia didn’t want to eliminate it, so this is what we’re living with. The real question is why the Federal government didn’t take the NZ approach.
Journalists should ask the Prime Minister how he feels sacrificing lives with a suppression strategy instead of trying to eliminate the virus has panned out for him, if he thinks it was the right decision, and how many people have to die before he thinks it was the wrong one.
It’s the decisions of a Prime Minister beholden to Big Business for votes and donations that has put us at risk. Someone in the press needs to start asking the right fucking questions.
The situation in Victoria’s panned out perfectly for the Morrison government: it’s a labour state, it takes the attention away from the national strategy. You’ll notice Morrison isn’t gunning for Andrews. Now, why do you think that is? Because he’s suddenly so bipartisan?
“Victoria let the virus out of hotel quarantine.” Ok, but you know what Victoria also did with hotel quarantine? Took a Lion’s share of Australians arriving home who live in other states, added their COVID-19 infections to the Vic tally, then *sent them home without the virus*
I don’t know what these figures would be, but perhaps, you know, an actual journalist being paid to do this job could find out.
At one stage I read that Vic’s hotel quarantine of people who live in other states came at the cost of $10million dollars to Victorian tax payers, but I can’t remember where I read that. Please post a link if you remember.
