If banning #TikTok is just about protecting kids privacy, banning #Wechat is a clean cut on tie with China.
WeChat is an app like a combination among “Facebook + twitter + whatsapp + PayPal”.
Banning it will fundamental change a lot people’s life and companies future.
#ColdWar
in principle, I think it is a correct decision.

Wechat surveillances controls and manipulates its users regardless whereabout and nationaliies.
It is the the most important mean for Chinese government to export its propaganda and censorship beyond its soil.
3. someone argues its a violation to freespeech.
But dont forget freespeech has its limit when we talk about hate speech. Because tolerance on that will cause real harm and kills freespeech itself.
This applies to Wechat as well.
WeChat is not here for freespeech but censohip.
4. toleranting WeChat like apps create a paradox for freespeech.
and because its made in China, its technically not possible to fix or regulate it either.
It’s wrong to compare with China’ ban on twitter or YouTube for those apps did not censor on different opinions like Wechat.
5. ”Great Fire Wall” is the name of China‘s online censorship system.
App like WeChat is like a mobile “Great Fire Wall”.
it changes peoples’ habit of freespeech via its user attachement with Chinese market.

Banning WeChat will push people seek alternatives inside and out China
6. how do apps like Wechat become an overwhelming dominant app for all Chinese community?
“Great Fire Wall” secure its success.
China’s censorship forces out any foreign company refusing comply with it.
So app like wechat beocmes only connection between China and the world.
7. So attack on Wechat is actually a part of the war on Chian’s “great fire wall” or so-called internet sovereignty.
And action on WeChat shall also b seen as a from of internet senction or de-attachment on China.
Its coherent with “Decoupling policy” by US.
