MPs more engage in legislative issues (making laws; considering reforms/amendments of archaic law)
The local councillors are more responsible for dealing with the community and effectuating structural change (i.e., box drains and the like); MPs though must have constituency offices and maintain communication with their constituents (most of ours fail on this regard I presume)
Anyone who knows more feel free to correct me or add on; the more we understand the duties of these politicians the better armed we are to actually hold them accountable !
