Some people prefer “Social Democracy” over socialism because they either can’t envision a society that is fully free of capitalism or don’t want to be.

It’s our job to educate them, and bring them into our fold.
We can acknowledge Social Democracy’s successes, in improving the quality of *some* workers for *some* amount of time.

While pointing out that such improvements have always been temporary concessions by the elite to stave off revolution and do nothing to stop global imperialism.
We can acknowledge Social Democracy’s successes, in improving the quality of *life* for some workers from some amount of time.

(IDK how many people noticed the typo but it’s bothering me)
Under capitalism, the consessions brought by social democracy are always temporary, an allowance given by the capitalist class in times of heightened worker agitation that will quickly be reversed as soon as the masses are lured back into complacency.
This is exactly what happened with FDR’s New Deal. Support for communism was on the rise after the obvious failures of Capitalism during the Great Depression. The ND stunted that momentum, by giving workers a lot of benefits without actually altering their relationship to capital
Our job in this moment is to build dual power and demand consessions larger than what the capitalist class is willing to provide, and if they actually provide them me ask for more. Constant agitation, constant struggle. No complacency.
I love this video by @YaBoiHakim which discusses what comrades can and should be doing during this protorevolutionary moment in the US.

I strongly recommend it to everyone.
