gaylors, please protect your private info on your accs across social platforms! my wb friends and I have underwent this many times before and our personal info were exposed even without displaying any names/photos on our pages. please take some time to read this thread:
doesnât matter if youâre a big or small acc, as long as you identify with lgbtq gaylors youâre with us and you may be at risk of being targeted. here are some precautions i recommend:
1. going private on your twitter/ig is the best way for now if you feel insecure, just to make sure people you are not approved of canât view your followings and followers
2. while you go into priv, still scroll through your follower list constantly to make sure everyone following you are the people you can be certain of. tap into their pages & see what they tweet recently if you suspect any. screenshot their page before blocking for future records
3. avoid displaying your real name for all of your platforms. try to vary your display name, @ , and profile pic if possible across your accs, to avoid ppl matching your twitter with ig page which may lead to more exposure of your irl life
4. itâs okay if you donât go priv, but keep an eye on photographs of yourself and friends/family if you have posted any in the past. just delete them if you feel the need to bc ppl could match the faces too
5. donât show any exact details about your location! youâll never know how close that person across the screen could live from you. ppl who know your area well might tell your daily routine places even by looking at one photo
6. keep in mind that stalks go through your following/follower list and whoever interacts with you often, so you gotta protect your irl friends/family mutuals too . be prepared to reach out like âhey thereâs something wrong w my acc, so i need to temporarily end mutuals w youâ
7. do not show your school/workplace details!!! if you have *HS 2020 or anything like that in ur ig bio take them down for now. edit out the location or organization in your ig posts. we are not giving stalkers a chance to out you to your school/coworkers-
however they may still figure out your school from the pages of your irl mutuals so cut down any connections between your main & fan acc
8. i know many swifties are sharing song le*ks files now. only open the files/links if they come from accs you trust. i would not like to imagine if any stalkers are taking it to the next level, but weâve had some cases in the past-
they could go as far as hacking your IP address and icloud account. once they have your icloud acc your photos and passwords could be in danger to. do whatever you can to secure your accs like setting up authentication
9. same thing goes to facebook!!! idk how it works since i never sign up for one bc of what iâve been through. cut down connections between your irl and fan accs like mentioned above!
