It is veeeery interesting to me that @JoeBiden felt compelled to apologize for these comments that most of the media said he didn’t make or ignored.

To start, @GlennKesslerWP, the fact checkers for the @washingtonpost, claims that Biden never made these comments he just walked back.

It begs the question why Biden would need to clarify them, don’t you think?
His outlet, @washingtonpost, conceded that he made some type of comment, but hid them behind the convenient euphemism of drawing a “distinction” when saying that African Americans lack political diversity.
Here’s where I would add @CNN but they didn’t even bother to report on or tweet about it.
Speaking of euphemisms, @AP went with the “draws distinction” line, too.

Can you imagine another scenario where a presidential candidate painting an entire community as a monolith would be described this way?
Plenty of outlets, including @nytimes, didn’t even bother to do their own reporting. They just picked up the wire from @AP.

I’m always fascinated by the stories that mainstream outlets won’t touch.
And, unsurprisingly, for many the real problem - as ever! - is the other guy in the race, @realDonaldTrump.

Here, Trump is the subject for his “claims” that “Biden ‘insulted the Black community’” in response to Biden...insulting the Black community.
Not only did Trump mention it, he seized! to hear @ABC tell it.

Heaven forbid Trump would point out his opponent yet again disparaging the Black community!
I’ll keep adding to this one probably. I have a feeling the galaxy brains will have a good explanation by tomorrow for why Biden apologized for something he didn’t do.

But in the words of @JoeBiden, “c’mon, man!”
We’ve got more bad takes this morning. @NBCNews decided his comments were worth writing about after his effort to “clarify” them.

To be clear: @JoeBiden apologized. He didn’t clarify anything. He said one thing yesterday and then the opposite later on to clean up.
@Complex also wasn’t interested until they could push out his “clarification” that didn’t clarify anything.
I would add @USATODAY’s response but they haven’t found it worthy of coverage still.

It seems like a nominee for president making disparaging comments about diversity in the African American community should be newsworthy?
Same thing from @NPR, who instead wants to speculate about Biden sending Trump to prison.

Your tax dollars, hard at work
My favorite though is @CNN.

They didn’t find it necessary to cover Biden’s original statement but instead tweeted about how “silence is not an option*” when it comes to “talking about race right now.”

*option still valid for Democrats
The pivot from @TODAYshow and @PeterAlexander is as heavy handed as it is predictable.
Also, not the media, but whichever Krass Bro @HKrassenstein is also got in on the mix, pretending the concern was that his disparaging comments could be “taken out of context.”

Actually, it was precisely the context that was the problem.
To bring it home: it beggars belief that a candidate for president making disparaging comments about the African American community - in the midst of the most charged racial reckoning since the 60s - is not newsworthy.

That so many outlets pretend otherwise is shameful.
