Ever notice how even those highly-praised early, supposedly critical, anti-war, progressive US movies about the Vietnam War, promoted racist, anticommunist propaganda? For example, in The Deer Hunter, the Vietnamese opponents of US imperialism are depicted as heinous torturers,
using Russian roulette, and this racist, anticommunist lie is the central element on which, around which, the entire movie is constructed. And in Apocalypse Now, in a key moment, Marlo Brando enunciates the main theme, "horror", recalling a certain incident as his motivation,
another imaginary atrocity of the Vietnamese opponents of US imperialism, hacking off the arms of Vietnamese children vaccinated by US special forces. These racist, anticommunist lies are absolutely essential to these movies, and they're all the more insidious
for being covered with an "anti-war" veil.
"We are against war because it turns us, the imperialist aggressors, into horrible people like those fighting against us for their national liberation" is a reactionary "anti-war" ideology.
