TN's polls are now closed! Follow this thread for live tweeting tonight on the GOP Senate primary and the TN 1 GOP race.

1/x
Trump-endorsed Bill Hagerty has the early lead in the Senate primary, narrowly leading in Davison (Nashville) and decisively leading in Bradley (Chattanooga burbs). But vote totals low compared to final expectations - Davison cast 42.5k in 2018's primary and only 16k are in.

2/x
Three rural counties are in with early returns and Haggerty is demolishing Sethi in each. If this rural domination continues, the contest will be over early tonight unless Sethi can develop a regional base somewhere.

3/x
More counties and Haggerty leads in all of them. Most of the rural ones give him huge leads. Never call a race this early but the Haggerty campaign must be extremely happy.

4/x
Hamblen County reports in TN 1 and it's Josh Gapp in front with Diana Harshbarger in 2d. Since Gapp doesn't have a lot of money this is good for Harshbarger, who does. Hamblen is one of the counties where no major person has a geographic advantage.

5/x
Whoops! Somehow I missed Gapp when I looked over the race this afternoon. He does have lots of money so it's notable that he and the other big money candidate, Harshberger, were 1 & 2 in Hamblen. The same is now true in Sevier County, another open county.

6/x
The AP has withdrawn Hamblen but it has results for Cocke and Unicoi. St. Sen. Crowe easily wins Unicoi, which is in his base, while it's Gapp and Harshberger again in Cooke, which is a non-base county. Neck and neck between Harshberger and Gapp so far.

7/x
About 10% of the expected statewide vote is in and Haggerty is cruising, trailing in only one county. Sethi is keeping it close in the Nashville region and in TN 1 but getting clobbered most other places.

8/x
Over 106,000 votes are now in and Haggerty leads by 16%. The election day vote will have to be very different for Sethi to have a shot.

9/x
Hamilton (Chattanooga) is in with early results and Haggerty leads by 1%. The urban/rural split is developing, with Haggerty dominating rurals and squeaking by in urbans, but Sethi will have to win the urban election day vote to have a chance.

10/x
TN 1 update: State Rep. Tim Hill is now in 2d, but that's because two counties from his HD - Sullivan and Carter - are in. Despite that boost he still trails Harshbarger by 6%. Harshbarger is now the clear favorite based on her ability to finish 1st or 2d in most counties.

11/x
TN 1 update - Harshbarger wins Hawkins county, another non-base place, but Washington comes in with former Johnson City mayor Steve Darden and St.Sen. Rusty Crowe 1-2. Guess who has won elections in Washington before? Harshbarger leads Crowe 20-17 with Hill at 16.
