HOW SCUMBAGS STEAL MILLIONS. NRA VERSUS BRAD PARSCALE. A THREAD.
As a lawyer, when I am asked to do something I haven't ever done before, the first thing I do is look for a "model" pleading. A blueprint for how some other lawyer has done it before, and I compare that against my own judgment of the law ... and form a plan.
That's how it's done in every serious professional pursuit. Plumbers learn as apprentices; musicians wear out old records. Coaches STUDY successful film. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/nfl/nfl-is-ultimate-copycat-league-1.2753271
The same thing is true for organized crime. Families pass down businesses and strategies. The young emulate and learn from the mistakes of the old.
Trump knows this. Even for purely private unregulated industries, he hides his assets in a web of related companies to make it hard to see what is truly going on. https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-donald-trumps-web-of-llcs-obscures-his-business-interests-1481193002
Presidential campaigns and Political Action Committees are (theoretically) regulated industries and they are required to report their earnings and expenses in publicly available databases. The same is true for non-profit charitable foundations like the NRA.
So the New York v. NRA case today shines a bright light on how the right wing has been hiding/stealing money. The essence: the NRA reported payments to an ad agency. The ad agency paid for the NRA's wildly extravagent lifestyle. Lifestyle payments were not disclosed:
La Pierre, by paying for his expenses out of the captured ad agency, hid his extravagence from tax authorities and members of NRA. https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/final_nra_summons_complaint_08.06.20.pdf
To further this fraud, he made sure that all the top leadership were his little minions. Their legal counsel, for example, was a noob who owed his livelihood to La Pierre.
FRAUD MODEL: Regulated entity (NY Foundation) sends money to unregulated entity (ad company). Leadership of regulated entity (NRA), takes kickbacks and extravagance from unregulated entity and makes sure NO ONE in regulated entity asks questions.
So NRA leadership is ALSO EXTREMELY INFLUENTIAL IN GOP POLITICS and remember "it's a copycat league." https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2017/11/audit-shows-nra-spending-surged-100-million-amidst-pro-trump-push-in-2016/
If you dig this kind of thing, please follow. Lies spread faster than truth. And you'd be amazed how many accounts spread lies.
As noted, campaigns and PACs must report income and expenses (shoutout @DignityPac of which I am current treasurer, and @maddogpac of which I am former treasurer). So the Trump Campaign must report its income and expenses ... OH ... https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-campaign-manager-parscales-companies-got-nearly-40-million-2020-5
EVEN REPUBLICANS QUESTION WHETHER THIS IS LEGAL https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-campaign-manager-parscales-companies-got-nearly-40-million-2020-5
We can't really know where this money is going, because it is being spent by an entity that doesn't report, but of course it's going to Trumpists horrible scam women I hate.
SO YES, THE CASE AGAINST THE NRA IMPLICATES TRUMP BECAUSE "IT'S A COPYCAT LEAGUE." Dirk out.
