As book bloggers and book reviewers, we encourage you all to really focus on adding support to non-white authors in your TBR piles now and going forward.

Making a conscious effort to be inclusive in our selections is how we create lasting changes in the publishing industry. https://twitter.com/vlatinalondon/status/1291299412157902848
As a community we need to provide support to Latinx, BIPOC, Black, Asian, Brown, and other non-white authors and illustrators. It is not fair for these individuals to do the heavy lifting of building equity/equality in the community. It is up to all of us to support this change!
Look at your current book lists. What have you read this year? How many are by white authors? How many are by non-white authors? If there is a big disparity between the two, you should be making efforts to change that. Read more books by non-white authors. Read OWN VOICES.
If we don't make daily conscious efforts to be inclusive in our reading choices, the change will be slow as molasses. If we as readers and reviewers DEMAND a focus and inclusion of non-white authors, the publishing/book industry will take notice. Change is good. Change is power.
Read more books by non-white authors.
Review more books by non-white authors.
Sing their praises loudly, and shout their names from the rooftops! Show the publishing industry that we want diverse representation and equal playing field in publishing and advertising their books.
Little by little with conscious effort, and folks in places of privilege utilizing/leveraging it for good instead of performative fluffiness, we'll begin to build a better, stronger community. We'll make space for everyone to celebrate who they are, and everyone to have a chance!
