REASONS TO PREORDER BOOKS BY BIPOC & QBIPOC AUTHORS
*ESPECIALLY PREORDER DEBUT & SOPHMORE BOOKS*

2. If the pre-orders are low (especially 6-8 weeks from pub) in-house morale changes (sometimes, budgets, publicity, & marketing plans change)*
3. Preorders signal interest, demand for a higher print run, can make a non-focus title become a lead title w/ more marketing $*

4. Sophomore books are really important. Sometimes the 1st bk an author publishes doesnât sell well, but the 2nd bk is an opportunity. Pre-ordering the book helps create a demand for the publisher to request more books from the author. Most people & readers forget that publishing
Is a business. If the publisher believes an authors work isnât selling, they are less inclined to sign on for more books.
*this isnât true for all books but u know
use your best judgement here.
Instead of debating & thinking too hard about this, just go pre-order a book from an author you love, from an author your favorite author loves, from a debut author or an author with a 2nd book coming

Also, bloggers, reviewers, & content creators, please use call to actions in your posts if youâre raving about a book youâve reviewed, direct folks to go pre-order
Iâve seen some content that does this & the people they influence actually go purchase the books

This is all my opinion, but would love to hear thoughts from others about the importance of pre-orders, especially for BIPOC & marginalized authors in particular
