For one,I believe that it's a trope to start a story. A starting point if you will. Also it's easy to excuse characters making mistakes and petty drama because they're kids. At least that's how I see it. There are many anime that take place outside of this setting though.
No one talks about them though. What about Deca Dance? Or Uzaki-chan? What about those animes? What about Re:Zero Season 2? None of those take place in high school.. Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball..again none of these take place in a school. Do they not count??
Isekai also doesn't take place in schools for the most part. Sometimes they do but other times it's outside of a school and more open world and fantasy filled. How can a tweet like this miss the point so much??
