Some thoughts on consistency I've learned from Instructional Designer colleagues and friends as #K12 folx are preparing for #distancelearning. It’s one control we DO have.

1. Consistent course templates are CRITICAL to lowering cognitive load for students. This applies to all LMS or content delivery systems.

2. Consistent course templates allow students and families to access, navigate, & use an LMS with less frustration. Think: calendar is in top right, assignments are located on left, Zoom link is always in announcements, etc. #distancelearning #edchat 3/7
3. Consistent course templates are designed to make your life as a teacher thrown into the unknown territory of #distancelearning just a bit easier. When do we ever get that? Oh, that's right. Never. #edchat 4/7
4. Consistent course templates are prob not going to be cute. I get it. Trust me, I taught early childhood & elementary. But I'd rather spend my time developing rich learning experiences for #distancelearning than finding the perfect font, Bitmoji, or clip art. #edchat 5/7
5. Consistent schedules are critical to developing routines for students AND families. It's one small thing that makes a HUGE difference. #distancelearning #edchat 6/7
6. Consistent schedules allow you to directly support students and families in their learning. Talk through expectations. Provide as much info as possible on upcoming events/activities/assignments. #distancelearning #edchat 7/7
