I don’t think you need dysphoria to be trans but also once you transition you might realize in retrospect you had a lot more dysphoria than you thought. That hit me like a ton of bricks personally
Like it seems insane now that I never considered it dysphoric to constantly feel like “I would much rather be a woman than a man” but people’s idea of dysphoria is often very narrow. Even if you don’t consciously hate your assigned gender, yearning for something else is dysphoria
I also always resented masculinity and the expectations of conforming to it felt oppressive. But I just considered that, like, political and nothing to do with dysphoria. But in retrospect even tho feminity is also constrictive, objectively, I find it much more appealing to me
This was all dysphoria and I only realized that when it was lifted. It isn’t gone entirely but there are moments where I feel euphoria instead and it is night and day
But I thought I couldn’t be “real” trans because I didn’t like, hate my penis or hate having penetrative sex. I never would’ve applied a standard that restrictive to anyone else but it made me feel like an imposter because I didn’t really hate my body
So anyway I think we need to educate people about the breadth of what dysphoria can be. Not everyone experiences it the same way or the same intensity and that’s ok.
But even if you genuinely have no dysphoria I don’t give a shit. If you want to transition go for it, it’s fun and it doesn’t affect me in any way. Even if someone was really the stereotype of “trans trender” why the fuck would I care. Not my business
If anything it may have positive knock-on effects as the more of us there are, demanding equality, demanding research, demanding access to humane care, the better off we’ll be. I can’t see how it hurts me in the slightest.
And transitioning from an assigned binary gender to non-binary or agender is still transitioning so fuck that “you can’t enby and trans” shit
Being trans is cool and fun and more people should do it imo, not fewer.
To be clear how trans people are treated is often not even remotely cool or fun but I mean the personal experience of it, not the attendant oppressions
