Profs in MH services seem overly concerned with making others “aware” of “PD” & how to “manage” these patients. But nobody seems to want to be made properly “aware” of how trauma might affect them. Trauma Informed Care is mostly mentioned in the context of *justifying* poor care.
“Ah yes. She was sexually abused as a child, and this is why she developed a personality disorder. This is called trauma informed care. We need to make sure this lady doesn’t become dependant on our services though. And do watch out for splitting and manipulation”
“We can almost definitely help her, but we need to help her to see that she is responsible for her own actions and that being abused as a child doesn’t mean that she can just go around attention seeking and wasting people’s time. She has to be prepared to put in the hard work”
