Some minor astrological things that beginners sometimes aren't aware of/can forget:
- The planets that, in general, mainly affect your personality are the Sun, Moon, Merc, Venus, & Mars... that being said, Jupiter and Saturn can directly affect your personality too if chart ruler

- Mercury can only be up to 1 sign away from the sun (so an Aries Sun could only have a Pisces/Aries/or Taurus Merc)
- Venus can only be up to 2 signs away from the Sun (aka Aries Sun could only have Aquarius/Pisces/Aries/Taurus/Gemini Venus)

- referring back to my first point. Having Neptune in Capricorn (and no other placements in Cap) does not make you a "Capricorn placement person" or make you "have Capricorn traits", same thing with having Sagittarius Pluto or Aquarius Uranus.

- this is because Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are so slow moving, most people within a few years range of your birth date have the same exact Uranus, Neptune, and/or Pluto signs as you. Thus they are generational planets, and don't affect your specific personality.

- also, while asteroids are something interesting to look at, they aren't necessary and won't tell you nearly as much as planets, houses, and aspects will (this includes Chiron, Juno, Vesta, etc)

- The ascendant is more than your "first impression" it actually tells a whole lot about your personality, health/appearance, and life circumstances in a general sense
