NESL announcement on the heels of EPSL's announcement. Clubs going one place and another.

Chaotic? Yep!

But, it's lower league soccer. Change isn't going to come in a neat package from on high. It has to happen from the grassroots and the grasstops

That means a lot of hard work and a lot of imperfections. The Platonic ideal of an "open soccer pyramid" will never happen no matter how much we complain or point out mistakes or watch organizations fail.

Things are happening in lower league soccer. I'm here for it.

"the thing that gets us to the thing" is the core message from one of my favorite TV shows, Halt and Catch Fire.

In that show, technology, computers, the internet aren't the thing. Their worth is in how they help us to better connect with each other. That's the thing.

When it comes to soccer, NESL isn't the thing. EPSL isn't the thing. MyCuJoo isn't the thing. Hell, NISA isn't even the thing.

But we saw the thing last week with @DetroitCityFC . We saw it before that with @ChattanoogaFC You can see it with @FCAustinElite & @ChristosFC

I'm starting to see it with @MDBobcatsFC on a bigger level and @UnityFCsoccer on another.

It's the connection between a soccer club, its supporters, and its community. And it's how that community connects to other soccer communities. And it's the history and tradition that informs all that.

For me, that's the thing. And I want more of it.
