There is a lot of work that should continue to be remote after the pandemic. We spend so much time in traffic, putting more emissions in the world, and literally wasting our lives away in our cars just so that bosses can watch you do your work. There is no reason to do this.
It makes no sense and it’s rooted in this weird way we think about work which isn’t really about production, or doing your job, but rather performing your role. If you can make a spreadsheet in an hour and a boss will pay me a days work for that, why would that be bad?
It’s all about control. Bosses wanna see if you’re productive and how much they can make you do yet they also want you to believe the way the capitalist market works is you get what you’re worth. In reality, you get the least a corporate boss can get away with paying you.
Telecommuting was already on the rise. We must make sure we have municipal broadband straight to every home and that will make us all more efficient giving us time for what makes us happy like leisure, rest, and being with loved ones.
Anyways, vote for @sarah2020 who was putting out policies on municipal broadband, tellecommuting, and a fair economy far before the pandemic.
