— how sometimes people confuse bad representation with just not traditional things:
just because something is usually a bad thing in whatever community the character is part of, DOESNT mean that that author believes ALL the people in that community are like that or that they're feeding into a negative narrative

somewhere true (SOMETIMES) and maybe that's just association with a community and a certain thing - that doesn't mean it's bad or that it's wrong to write about.
for example, arranged marriages and muslims. many people associate arranged marriages with negativity, yes forcing +

children into marriages is bad i will not argue with that. but also many consenting adults can have arranged marriages and be happy and it's very villanized in media but it's not inherently a bad thing!!! it's very traditional in muslim countries and many other cultures as well+
why did i bring this up? well I've seen people find a muslim character in an arranged marriage and go "wow the author is cancelled" like. no? it's part of their culture and it doesn't have to be a bad thing just because it has been portrayed as that in other media. +
EVEN IF this author wrote this arranged marriage as a negative thing, then it still has truth in it because some of these marriages (just like any other) can be abusive and negative. and it doesn't mean the author is racist and making this character into a horrible stereotype. +
realistic things aren't always good, this world sucks. an author writing something realistically isn't doing anything wrong tho?
this is an example but i think it can be applied to many things.
