My friend with the job offer accepted and had to tell their boss they're leaving today. Their current work environment is pretty bad, so they asked for my advice. Here's a thread of what I told them

Be succinct and clear. You're going for a quick, clean break up. You're not obligated to elaborate. "I've accepted a job offer. My last day here will be <insert date>." If you feel the need to embellish, you may add. "Thank you for the opportunity here."
Elaborating, taking longer than necessary to make your point, will only make it worse for yourself. Practice saying or writing this several times if you need to.
If pressed for more information, simply say, "The opportunity I have accepted is excellent and more inline with my long term goals and aspirations. Again, thank you for the opportunities here."
They can fill in their own details if they want them.

Avoid being negative at all costs. Though it may be cathartic, is does you absolutely zero good. It may, in fact, harm the remaining people in the toxic environment. Remember, managers are people, and they may transfer their frustration with you onto others.
If it's particularly toxic, you may be fired for giving your notice. Don't sweat it. I'd reach out calmly to HR and ask for a severance package in that case. Take some joy in knowing you're leaving such a hostile environment.
Don't capitulate if they come back with a counter offer. It won't be worth it. It's not a real counter. They will be planning to replace you from the moment you accept.
Remember, life is short, don't waste more time than necessary on shit like this. You got something better to do. Like celebrating your next opportunity.
Good luck if you're in this situation. You got this.
