In the official MMA judging criteria there are 3 methods of scoring. Those three methods are used IN ORDER.
(A) Effective striking/grappling
(B) Effective aggressiveness
(C) Cage Control
If (A) is even, which is very rare, we go to (B) to decide the winner. If (B) is the same, even more rare, we go to (C) to decide the winner.
In the premier league, the champion is decided by 3 methods IN ORDER too.
(A) Points earned
(B) Goal difference
(C) Goals scored (usually, go with me here)
(A) Points earned
(B) Goal difference
(C) Goals scored (usually, go with me here)
If Liverpool get 99 points (A) and Man City get 98 points, Liverpool win the league even if City have a better Goal difference (B) & more Goals Scored (C)
If Daniel Cormier has more effective striking/grappling (A) than Stipe Miocic, he will win the round even if Stipe Miocic has more aggressiveness (B) and Cage Control (C).
So, if Liverpool have 1 more point than City..... they win the league. Nothing else matters.
If DC lands 1 more effective strike/grappling manoeuvre than Stipe.... he wins the round. Nothing else matters.
If DC lands 1 more effective strike/grappling manoeuvre than Stipe.... he wins the round. Nothing else matters.
So the next time someone tries to put Aggression/Cage Control alongside grappling & striking when deciding who won a round, you can tell them City didn't win the league because they have a better goal difference & scored more goals than Liverpool.
