We all know that unbiased education is impossible, right? We do all know that objective truth cannot exist in the humanities - literature, social studies, the arts - because any interpretation of human experience is inherently subjective. You know that, right? 1/2
The purpose of humanities education is training in critical thought. Any curriculum that pretends to be unbiased seeks only to mask its bias, enforce its version of truth, and engender fear or resistance toward critical thought. 2/3
We’re smarter than that, Alberta. Editing test questions for bias and limiting teachers’ discussion topics is a gross politicization of public education. Stop pretending otherwise. 3/3
