Just finished #BeforeIForgetGame by @3foldgames, and I'm completely wrecked.

You play a woman suffering from Alzheimer's and try to piece your life together. It's touching, sweet, and heartbreaking.

But also, A THREAD...
In another life, I did a bunch of stories for the newspaper about Alzheimer's and one man's death related to it.

It started when he vanished. He drove to his check-up at the hospital, saw his doctor, walked out, never got in his car, and disappeared.

He just walked away.
I entered the picture as his family searched, and I initially wrote about that. Seeing the pain it caused them was one thing, but what terrified me was the thought of this elderly man lost and confused. Just out there. By himself. Unable to tell people what's wrong.
It was the first story I ever covered that I couldn't shake after I was done. For months I wondered about him, until I glanced at a TV in a restaurant one day and saw that his body had been discovered. He was found near a lake somewhat close to an old family home.
We'll never know for sure, but the family believes he exited the hospital and had a memory lapse. That time slipped and he thought he was years prior, so he started hitchhiking back to the old house. Then, at some point got lost and ended up at the lake.
