What media leaves out is often the most telling.
From this WaPo piece, one would think Lebanon simply dislikes Israel because of border tensions. The only mention of Israel's 3 invasions of Lebanon is "Israel and Hezbollah fought a war in 2006." https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/after-days-of-tension-israel-offers-aid-for-devastated-beirut/2020/08/06/585cddd2-d7b8-11ea-a788-2ce86ce81129_story.html#comments-wrapper

WaPo makes the 2006 war sound like a two-sided skirmish. In fact, Israel bombarded Lebanon for 34 days, targeting civilian infrastructure. When Israel's bombs hit a power station south of Beirut, thousands of tons of oil spilled onto Lebanon's coast, an ecological catastrophe.
The UN has called for Israel to pay Lebanon $850M for cleanup of the oil spill, with the general assembly voting 170-6 in favor of the resolution. The US, Canada & Australia were among the few countries voting against. Israel still has not paid the reparations.
Lebanese civilians are still being targeted by unexploded cluster bombs fired by Israel back in 2006. The UN estimates over 1M cluster bombs littered South Lebanon after the war. Just last month, a Lebanese man lost his hand to one. These weapons were made & supplied by the US.
All this context is absent from today's media accounts about Israel's benevolence after the Beirut explosion: "Israeli officials said it was time to put aside hostilities and offer help to its northern neighbor." https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/after-days-of-tension-israel-offers-aid-for-devastated-beirut/2020/08/06/585cddd2-d7b8-11ea-a788-2ce86ce81129_story.html#comments-wrapper
