Now that the Summer season is winding down a few players have told me some bizarre stories from their coaches...
A player told me their coach will force them to take until two strikes for multiple games each weekend. Says, "the most frustrating thing for a pitcher is to give up an 0-2 hit." He apparently doesn't realize that the most frustrating thing for hitters is to be 0-2. 🤦‍♂️
A player told me his coach makes his players text him the morning of each game & tell him if they want to play that day or not. Player said coach wanted to know what their commitment was...I always assumed committing to play was the commitment, shame on me.
A player told me his coach would just drop the baseballs off at the cage before the game and walk off. These are young players btw that most likely can barely front toss correctly let alone throw BP to each other.
A player told me his coach likes to play the infield in regardless of inning or situation to "put pressure on the hitters." I don't even know what to say.
A dad told me they paid 5k just to be on a team and the coaches play cards at the field before the games while the 11u kids do their best to get themselves ready to play. Pretty ballsy if you ask me.
For the life of me I can't understand how the same parents that freak out when Starbucks gets their order wrong will continue to pay and tolerate this. 🤷‍♂️
